Kyiv came under a large, combined missile and drone attack in the overnight hours Thursday, according to Ukrainian officials.
“Kyiv is under massive attack,” from Russia, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Timur Tkachenko said in a post on Telegram.
In one district of Kyiv, debris from the attack was recorded falling on two residential buildings, Tkachenko said in a separate post on Telegram.

Tkachenko later said at least one person was killed and at least four others injured in the attacks, which he said also damaged homes and businesses.

The barrage on Thursday continued a series of strikes by Russia on Ukrainian cities over the past week.
Earlier this week, President Donald Trump expressed frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the strikes, which continue even as the White House continues efforts to broker a peace deal.
Over the weekend, both Russia and Ukraine continued long-range strikes. On Tuesday, Ukraine’s air force said Russia launched 59 drones into the country overnight, of which 47 were shot down or suppressed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that Ukrainian officials are due to meet with members of the Trump administration in New York on Friday. On the agenda are discussions about security guarantees for Ukraine to prevent future Russian aggression — a key part of the negotiations that emerged after Zelenskyy and a slate of European leaders visited the White House last week.

“The task is to accelerate as much as possible so that this too becomes a lever โ a lever of influence: the Russians must see how seriously the world is determined and how dire the consequences will be for Russia if the war continues,” Zelenskyy said Wednesday.
