Jaipur: State health department has made it mandatory for all diagnostic labs to register under the Clinical Establishment Act (CEA) 2010, in a renewed push to regulate the sector. Despite both central and state notifications, majority of labs in the state continue to operate without registration, violating the Act.
Additional director (hospital administration), Dr Narrottam Sharma, said, “We will take action against the labs which are not getting registered as per the provisions in the CEA 2010. We have directed all the chief medical health officers to ensure that no lab will function without a valid registration under the Act.”
The health department has started an exercise to identify the labs which are running illegally and without fulfilling the provisions of the CEA 2010. The labs have started applying for registration under the Act.
A team from the health department will inspect their labs and ensure that all the provisions of the CEA are followed by the lab before granting registration to them. They will ensure the lab has proper equipment and human resources, mandatory under the Act. TNN
